Meme Marketing : Creative tool for brands

Meme marketing is a way brands use memes to advertise their products. It can be in video or picture form, but all it needs is an essence of humor. It is a simple yet really effective strategy to engage with audience and an extremely creative approach for brands.

Cost effective : meme production is cheaper as compared to traditional methods of advertising products. It is quicker, easier, and faster. Using the right level of sarcasm allows the brand to gain more visibility at a low cost. It also helps brands to increase their audience because the majority of social media Users do not like cliché ads popping on their screens all the time, and to sell any product requires a certain level of relatability between the brand and the audience. Memes increase the level of relatability and help brands engage with the audience too.

Engagement: To stay relevant in the digital world brands must focus on engagement. Using memes can help the brand essentially stay in touch with the audience and gain attention on socials, according to stats traditional methods of advertising hold only 5% of attention whereas memes hold 60% of audience attention. It helps the brand stay in the moment and connect with the audience. A solid example could be Zomato because their entire Instagram page is filled with meme related content and they have a higher engagements rate than their competitors.

Less effort and more creativity: The ideal social media manager for a brand will be creative in their approach, which will help the brand in many ways when creating memes, which do not require a lot of effort but do require creativity

Laughs & Shares: Majority of the social media users are Genz and Millennials and as memes have now become a language for Genz and millennials as memes have sense of humor, we share them often. Whenever I see a meme on my feed that I find funny, I quickly share that to all my friends in an effort to make them laugh as well, 74% of users send memes to make other people laugh too. You see, if a brand uses sarcasm in a correct way, there is a higher chance that users will share their content as well! And according to stats, memes are the second most shared type of content on social media.
